I spent a down day organising, cleaning, and repairing the latch. I camped at Mashamoquet State Park in Pomfret, CT. Then it was a long walk to the lake.
I spent another day close by at West Thompson Lake army corps campground. Great small campground with all hookups! Walked partway around reservoir.
The next day I drove on back roads across Rhode Island and into Massachusetts to Nickerson State park in Cape Cod. I camped up the hill from a pond and had some pretty walks along the banks.
The next day started with a glorious sunrise over the pond and then off to explore Cape Cod. Cape Cod was named for the abundance of codfish. The weather was warm and I had great walks along the various beaches and checked out lighthouses.
Nauset Light Lighthouse Beach (Nauset Indians lived in the area before the Europeans arrived).
Three Sisters Lighthouses
Highland Light Lighthouse
On to Provincetown: (affectionately known as P-Town): Pretty harbour, Old historic buildings, Lots of tourists! I had to park the RV on the outside of town to avoid getting stuck on narrow streets and walked the two miles into town and back! The Pilgrims landed at Provincetown in 1620.
The next day it was on to Mystic CT to a great RV park. I was not far from Deep River and met my sister in law, Kate, for lunch at a marina and an afternoon visit.
I wanted to wait for the Fall Colors to hit Vermont so I have to wait until the last of September or first of October and be patient and fill the time with sightseeing. I headed a bit North to East Otis, MA, and spent a couple of days at Tolland State forest. It was a beautiful campground on a lake and I enjoyed swimming and relaxing.
I went to the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge MA and enjoyed a few nostalgic hours remembering past Saturday Evening Post covers, so much a part of my childhood.
