Sedona

We cut short our Grand Canyon stay by one day due to the cold, snow, freezing rain, a leak in the skylight because it could not run off fast enough, and a switch that got left on and drained the house battery!  We headed for Sedona where it was much warmer and plugged in to recharge the battery.
We had beautiful views of the Grand Canyon as we drove out the east entrance.

The drive to Sedona was a great road and we found a great place outside of Sedona called LoLoMai RV resort.  We saw a double rainbow as we were driving toward the RV park.

Our camping space was close to a creek and beauty surrounded us.  We took our breakfast by the creek with the birds and the sound of gurgling water keeping us company,

Then it was on to Sedona and a bit of shopping and another RV Park.  We had fun with a wine tasting from a local winery and then a wild dinner of buffalo, rattlesnake, spicy fry bread, and cactus fries!  The fries were especially good!
We took a trolly tour and saw the beautiful red rocks of Sedona and I did not have to drive the RV up the narrow roads!
Soon it was time to head to our next campsite.  We stopped at Slide Rock state park to see the natural water slide.  Some brave people were in that frigid water, but not me!  It was fun to watch!
Our campsite was so pretty at Cave Springs, not too far north of Sedona.

Grand Canyon

We arrived at the Grand Canyon last night and we're greeted by 3 elk munching on the grass across the street.

It is quite cold--quite an adjustment from the heat at Boulder City!  We got out the warm pj's and slept in layers!  It rained off and on all day but we  braved the rain and cold and went on a long hike and saw great beauty!  Amazing views!

Hope to do more hiking tomorrow before the thunderstorms come.

Hoover Dam by day 3

I'm traveling with a friend, Colleen, for the first few weeks.
We are on our way!
After a late start, Colleen and I spent the first night in Shafter, CA with Coleen's sister in law.
Then the next day we climbed the Tehachapi mountains and made it to a great campsite close to Lake Mead.  The view was great and the price only $5 with my senior national park pass!
Today we did a tour of Hoover Dam.  It was interesting (and hot).

We changed campsites so we could have water and power for the air conditioner.  The mountains around the lake are stark and so beautiful!  We ate takeout by the water and watched the sun set.
Tomorrow it is off to the Grand Canyon!

Planning

I'm about to set off on a cross country trip from Martinez California.  I'll be traveling part of the time with friends and family and other times on my own. I'm excited to start this adventure!  My son will be staying at my house and taking care of my cats.
